What’s the worst casting decision you’ve ever seen for a movie or TV show?

I nominate Denise Richard’s portrayal of nuclear physicist Dr. Christmas Jones in the James Bond film, “The World Is Not Enough”

While Sophie Marceau kept the movie together with a fine performance, Denise Richard’s attempt to pull off a nuclear scientist was just painful. The director tried everything, even putting her in an underwater scene in a white shirt.

The problem was they had to put her in scenes where she was supposed to be fearful, running away from danger. Every attempt at a facial expression of fear, anxiety, panic, all were so forced. And the running, she would hesitate and look back and then run again. As stiff as a robot. I saw this in a movie house and the audience was laughing and groaning at her poor acting. And this was a Bond film audience, expecting some cornball stuff in the script. But Richard’s was clearly trying her best to do the role straight.

Thank goodness she was not cast in the next Bond adventure.
