My parents got her when I was just a year old

My parents got her when I was just a year old. She chose me as her favorite human, and even as a baby, she would always stay close to me.

Over time, we became best friends. I told her everything, and all she wanted from me were chin scratches and my bed.

Life was good until one day we had to take her to the vet. Sabrina was diagnosed with a rare heart disease. We couldn’t afford the surgery, so we had to accept that she might only have a year left.

But she lived for three more years. Then, she got very sick. I hadn’t noticed how bad things were until it was too late.

One morning, I woke up to get ready for school. Sabrina was coughing and struggling to breathe. My mom went to take a quick shower, and we were about to take her to the vet.

While I waited for my mom, I sat on the steps with Sabrina. She looked so weak and sick. I petted her and talked to her. Her eyes became glassy, and she passed away.

Saying goodbye to her was the hardest thing I’ve ever done with a pet. I held her as she went.

This was the first time I lost someone I truly loved, and it hurt a lot. I grieved for months.

Sabrina was a once-in-a-lifetime cat, and I still miss her, even three years after she passed away.
