My husband and I have been Married since 1995

My husband and I have been Married since 1995. We tried for years to get pregnant, spending thousands on fertility treatments, monitoring cycles etc. Never happened. We gave up years ago and started to try to accept it was never going to happen. In 2013 I really hadn’t come to terms with not having kids and talked with a friend of mine who was a grief councillor and she told me I needed to grieve the loss of not being able to have a child the same way as if Ihad lost a child. I went through a real grief phase and had finally (as much as I could) put it behind me. One day at work I mentioned to a coworker who was new and didn’t really know my situation that I was feeling a bit off. She joked that maybe I was pregnant. I laughed and told her no, I’m 42 we tried for 19 years and I can’t get pregnant. On the way home though I thought maybe I should check. I stopped and bought a test and took it as soon as I got home. I hadn’t even finished peeing on it and it already showed a very dark line. Holy crap! I was pregnant at 42 after so long! I waited until my husband got home and he before I could tell him he starts talking about some new clubs and golf shoes he found for us. You see, we had decided to concentrate on us, early retirement (lol) and travelling, golf etc. I just showed him the stick. He was dumbstruck! Wouldn’t believe it until a dr confirmed it. Well had it confirmed and was referred to a high risk specialist due to my age. It was a crazy 7 months of weekly tests, several ultrasounds and us constantly thinking something was going to go wrong and there wouldn’t be a heartbeat or genetic testing would come back unfavourable or they would find something on the ultrasound. Nope, everything was great except my high blood pressure. The dr ordered a planned c section at 38 weeks as she felt I more than likely would need an emergency one if I tried labor as my blood pressure wasn’t very well controlled. On Dec 10, 2014 I had a perfectly healthy baby boy!
