Katie Newhouser, a devoted dog lover with three pups of her own, always enjoyed seeing the dogs along her delivery route. But one in particular—Leo, a friendly pit bull—captured her heart.
“Every time I pulled into the condo complex, Leo would start barking and would always hop into my truck when I stopped,” Katie shared in a Facebook post.
Over time, Katie also formed a bond with Leo’s owner, Tina, who told her that her son had found Leo as a tiny puppy and had to bottle-feed him.
In July 2017, Katie was devastated to learn that Tina had passed away. As she processed the loss, her concern quickly turned to Leo’s future. When she reached out to Tina’s son, Cannon, he explained that he couldn’t care for Leo as he was on active duty in the Marines.
Without hesitation, Katie decided to welcome Leo into her home, despite already having three dogs of her own.
