Because her father was in the military for such a long time, Addie, who is nine years old, has learned to deal with his absences. However, I had to witness my daughter’s little heart break today as every member of the cheer squad got to perform with their dad present. It was most likely the most terrible feeling imaginable. Then, like all the other daddies, this amazing young man climbed the fence to take Addie up on his shoulders when he noticed that she was wailing and alone. I could not help but cry as I saw everything happen. It was a member of the next squad we were to play, not even one from St. John Bosco. The fact that this young man, who had never met my daughter before, went above and above to make sure she did not feel uncomfortable, makes my heart sing. Even Addie said, “I just felt like somebody saved me.” Knowing that my dad is serving there made it feel quite pleasant. Many thanks for that! Her father and I appreciate your thoughtful action.
